For this video, my partner is my dear friend Ashleigh Indrieri, I'm excited to work with her because she is a lively, intellectually challenging girl. In this conversation we will be talking about cars. We have already written our script and are practicing, I'm hopeful that this conversation will go well.
Reflection This week I didn't feel as prepared going into the final video filming as I did the first time. As my partner and I were practicing I always forgot what I was supposed to say, and minutes before we were filmed I was still messing up. Nonetheless, Ashleigh continued to encourage me and help me and the video actually turned out really well. I felt bad that I couldn't seem to learn our script because I would hate to be the one to bring the partnership down. Ashleigh practiced with me over and over so when we when we went in to do the video we nailed it. I am grateful for such a compassionate partner, I couldn't imagine getting through this video without her. I'm excited to work with someone new next time. Click here to see our video

Leily and I have been practicing all week and we finally had our first filmed conversation in Spanish. I was really nervous that I would mess up or blank out the entire time but once we finished I was immediately proud of what we accomplished. Leily and I worked really well together and she was a perfect first partner! Although our video turned out really well, I wish I had a higher vocabulary in Spanish because I hope to one day be able to have full, non scripted conversations in Spanish with locals whenever I go down to Mexico. To reach this goal I want to continue to what we are doing in class as well as study more words Spanish words. My family take roadtrips through Mexico often, but I usually feel awkward whenever we're around local because I can't speak to them, I really want to change that this year and I think honors will help.
I don't really mind who I collaborate with for my next video as long as I can trust they will do their part. I'm really open to working with anyone in class but I do think I would prefer to work with a friend just because I know them better. Family friends speak Spanish so I think next time I see them I will try to speak in Spanish with them, even if it's a little embarrassing at first, I think this will help me improve. Another way to help me with my Spanish is to watch movies in Spanish or read articles. Click here to see our video. With the first week of Spanish class coming to a close, I can safely conclude that this semester is going to be a tough one, but I am up for the challenge. Before the second day of school was over Mrs. Aleida had us paired off with our classmates and we were attempting to have conversations in Spanish. We've written scripts to help guide our conversations and by next week we need to have completely learned them. My partner, Leily, and I have been practicing a lot and I'm optimistic that our final conversation will go really well. I really want to focus on pronunciation, I feel like that's a huge part of becoming a better Spanish speaker. Leily and I are friends so we chose to work together because we are comfortable with each other, but I'd really like to go out of my comfort zone by working with someone who I don't know well next time. It's easier to work with people I know because then I know that I can trust them to do their part. Likewise, I have to be a reliable partner by doing my part.
With the three day weekend that we have I know I need to manage my time so I can get my homework done early, but I know I'm probably going to push off all my work until Monday. I tend to leave the hardest work for last, and this semester Spanish is definitely my hardest class. It's difficult for me to learn new languages, sometimes I can barely even speak English, so I really have to push myself. My dad's first language was Spanish and that's what he spoke at home growing up, but for some reason it never occurred to him to teach it to me so I'm coming into this class fresh. |
