Reflection
In this project we used silhouette self portrait molds to create our Symbolic Self Portraits. The first thing we did was practice coloring and blending with colored pencils. At the same time we brainstormed by creating mind maps. Once everything was all said and done, our portraits had to represent ourselves in some way of another. Some student portraits had little items packed into their silhouette to represent their likes and what makes them who they are, for example a student would have music notes around where their ears would be because they like listening to music.
I chose to go for a more simple route. I knew my limitations when it comes to art so I didn't want to have to draw tiny little figures packed into my head. I turned my bun into a beehive with honey dripping down to represent my sweet and empathetic side. I drew a fire coming up from my chest to symbolize that I'm fueled by a fire inside. Lastly, I drew a heart in my throat to represent my emotions. I cry at sad movies, I sream at scary ones, and I get really nervous before presentations, most of the time I have that feeling of "a heart in my throat".
